Fasting for Breakthrough

Our Impossibility, God's Possibility

Genesis 21:1-3 (NLT)
Our story actually starts a couple of chapters before in Genesis 18. Abraham and Sarah are visited by three strangers who were agents of the Lord. As they were sitting with Abraham one spoke, “I will return to you about this time next year, and your wife, Sarah, will have a son!” (Genesis 18:10).

Abraham and Sarah were both very old by this time, and Sarah was long past the age of having children.

12 So she laughed silently to herself and said, “How could a worn-out woman like me enjoy such pleasure, especially when my master--my husband--is also so old?”

Sarah laughed to herself because of the probability of this being possible was zero. The time for childbearing was long gone. Although she desired to have children, her womb was shut for numbers of years. She longed to have a child, but now in her old age, that time passed. So upon hearing this, she instinctively laughs to herself. it sounds silly. It's not going to happen. There is no way it can!

There are times in life that we are met with impossibilities. Things that we believe cannot and will not happen. But when God has other plans, there is nothing that can stop Him!

14 Is anything too hard for the LORD?

God does not shy away from impossible circumstances. Our God is able to do whatever He pleases. Jesus tells us that “With man it is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

No matter what circumstance seems impossible, God can make it possible. You may be praying for lost loved ones, or for healing. You may need a financial breakthrough, or certain things to align for you. God can do it!
As we trust in His process, things can come to pass.

Our scripture tells us that the Lord did visit Sarah.

Genesis 21:1-3 (NLT) The LORD kept his word and did for Sarah exactly what he had promised. 2 She became pregnant, and she gave birth to a son for Abraham in his old age. This happened at just the time God had said it would. 3 And Abraham named their son Isaac.

The name Isaac means laughter. Isaac became their joy. God can turned your laughter of impossibilities to laughter of joy and so He can for you!

As we pray today during this time of fasting, may we remember that our God makes impossible things possible!
